The Lord's Signet Ring

Pam Finlay - Acrylic on Canvas 2014

The Lord’s Signet Ring – A seal of the Holy Spirit guaranteeing our inheritance

The ring was given to us when we received salvation through faith as the gift of God.  He has placed that ring on our finger as co-heirs with Him, true sons, and has given us authority to make decrees in His name.

The sapphire signet ring speaks of revelation and authority.  We are living rays of the rainbow faceted crystals.  He is giving us multi-faceted understanding of his Word.  The sapphire represents the obedience to the will of God, faith in Christ.  The sapphire is consistently described as being around the throne of God.  It was one of the precious stones in the high Priest’s “breastplate of judgement”, Exodus 25 verse 15, Exodus 28 verse 17-21.

Sapphires can be a conduit of the Holy Spirit, allowing an uninterrupted flow of revelation, mirroring the creative beauty of the Lord whilst being beneficial vessels to manifest His glory here on earth.

Sapphires are known to be exceptionally hard and “practically scratchproof” which metaphorically signifies endurance, steadfastness and perseverance, James 1 verse 3-4.

The sapphire stone is also mentioned in Exodus 24 verse 9-11, Ezekiel 1 verse 25-28, and Revelation 21 verse 18-19.

Finally sapphires have the capability to allow an unhindered passage of light, the entire spectrum of the rainbow, hence the colours in my painting.  Jesus is our true light and that light is coming to us and through us.  “Christ in you, the hope of Glory” Colossians 1 verse 27.

Signet rings were used by ancient Kings to display honour and authority. (Daniel 6 verse 17, Genesis 41 verse 41-43).  The signet could also be worn on a chain around the neck (Song of Solomon 8 verse 6).
The signet is a seal, usually a ring, used to authenticate a document.  It is the ring of Kings who carry the highest authority in the Land.

Another unusual use of the word “signet” was the special engraving of the stones on the ephod of the high priest “like the engravings of a signet”.  Exodus 28 verse 11-14.

In an unusual use of the word, Zerubbabel is said to be a “signet” because the Lord had chosen him (Haggai 2 verse 23).  Zerubbabel was a prominent leader involved in reconstructing the temple.  As God’s “signet ring”, Zerubbabel becomes a picture of the future Messiah, Jesus Christ, who will establish His people in the promised land, constructing an even grander temple (Zechariah 6 verse 12-13).  He will lead the righteous in never ending worship.

We are beautiful, precious stones in His sight.  His love is strong and firm and we can become bright and sparkling just like Jesus.  God is extending His authority to the true ambassadors of Christ and has set His seal to the healing, revival, deliverance and restoration His body are called to release.  He has chosen us to be his “signet ring”, true living stones of His manifest glory.

SEEKING THE LIGHT - LOST IN HIS LOVE

Pam Finlay - Watercolour on paper, 12 x 8cm 2013
"Seeking the Light"

A bright light in a dim place
A perfect offering
The throne of grace
In the deep a light will grow
Bringing out God’s colours
Let the river flow
Growing abundantly
Shining on
Following Jesus
Himself the cornerstone
A lamp unto our path
Journeying within
Eliminating darkness
Consumed by Him
Jesus
Light of the world
Dawn from on high
Seeking His presence
Drawing nigh
John 8 verse 12
Again Jesus spoke to them saying “I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life”.

The Dawn from on high is Jesus, the one who is all peace, all light, all goodness and all
life

ZIONWARD

"Zionward" - Pam Finlay 2013 Acrylic on canvas

Isaiah 35
The future glory of Zion.
1 The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them,
And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;
2 It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice,
Even with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,
The excellence of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the glory of the Lord,
The excellency of our God.
Isaiah 62 verse 1
For Zion’s sake I will not hold my peace,
And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest,
until her righteousness goes forth as brightness,
And her salvations as a lamp that burns.
Psalm 80 verse 3
Restore us, O God;
Cause Your face to shine,
And we shall be saved!
 Psalm 87 verse 1
His foundation is in the holy mountains
Psalm 78 verse 68
But chose the tribe of Judah,
Mount Zion which He loved.
Isaiah 2 verse 3
Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
That the mountain of the Lord’s house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And all nations shall flow to it.
Revelation 21 verse 10
And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.
The mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of the mountain.
The materials of the mountain are of lively stones.  This mountain, Mount Zion cannot be moved, the dynamic love of God, the unalterable covenant of grace, established on the rock Christ Jesus, and guarded by the mighty power of almighty God. This power is established on the top of the mountain.  The city on a hill will be exposed from a wilderness experience to a blossoming garden of God.  It will be visible to all ( Isaiah 60 verse 4).
The colours in my painting are blue, green and purple which symbolize the glorified, immortal sons of God.  A prism will form through which the Son of Righteousness will shine through.  The green leaves in the foreground of the painting symbolize the “the harvest of the Firstfruits”, the bride of Christ.

Blessings
